What is the March Break OCD Skills Camp?
The March Break OCD Skills Camp is a half-day, skills-based program designed to help children and teens learn and practice tools for managing OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP is the most effective, evidence-based treatment for OCD.
Camp focuses on practice, not perfection, and is supportive, not bootcamp.
Is this Camp Therapy?
Our camp is therapeutic and therapist-led, but is it not a replacement for ongoing therapy. It's designed to help kids learn and strengthen bravery skills they can continue using at home, school, or in OCD treatment
What does a Typical Day Look Like?
Each 1/2 day includes: A warm welcome, grounding/self-regulation time, learning one bravery skill in an appropriate language, supported practice (exposures), breaks for movement/rest, reflection and confidence building, caregiver debrief at pickup.
Will my Child be Forced to do Exposures?
No. Kids are never forced to do exposures.
Therapists guide and support practice, but kids and teens are always given choice and collaboration. Trying is celebrated, but there is no expectation to "push through" or do things perfectly.
What if my Child Feels Very Anxious?
Feeling anxious is expected when doing something brave, and it's safe. Therapists help kids learn that anxiety can rise and fall without needed to escape or fix it. Support focuses on coaching skills, not removing discomfort.
What Age Groups are Offered?
The camp runs parallel groups for: Ages 4-7, 8-11, 12-15
Each group uses developmentally appropriate language, activities, and levels of independence.
How are Parents Involved?
Parent involvement depends on age: Ages 4-7: More parent support and coaching. Ages 8-11: Gradual independence. Ages 12-15: Coaching role.
All caregivers receive brief daily debriefs and guidance on how to support practice at home without accommodating OCD
What does "Not Accommodating OCD" Mean?
Accommodation includes things like repeated reassurance, helping avoid fears, or doing rituals for your child. While well-intentioned, these behaviours can unintentionally strengthen OCD.
We help parents learn what helps vs. what feeds OCD in a calm, realistic way.
What Should we Expect After Camp Ends?
It's common for anxiety to fluctuate after learning new skills. This doesn't mean camp didn't work.
Confidence builds through continued practice, not immediate comfort. Families leave with tools, language, and next step guidance.
Is This Camp Right for My Child?
This camp may be a good fit if your child has OCD or strong OCD traits, is already on therapy or considering therapy, or has not wanted to participate in therapy. A diagnosis of OCD is not required.
If you're unsure, our team can help you decide.
